Senate panel to assess Zamfara killings

SenatePresident, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has asked the Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Security, to visit Zamfara and conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the killings that recently occurred in the state.


In a tweet on @BukolaSaraki, Senator Saraki said: “I have directed the Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Security to visit Zamfara on Tuesday (today) to get a first-hand assessment of the security situation in the state and report back to plenary.”

In a related development, Saraki has also weighed in on the response of United Nations’ Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, to the attack in Rann, Borno State, describing the commitment of the body to stay in North-East as commendable.

Saraki is in Ghana and will address the country’s parliament on The Future of Good Governance in Africa, in commemoration of 25 years of uninterrupted parliamentary democracy in Ghana.
