BREAKING: Kidnapped Delta commissioner’s wife regains freedom

The wife of Delta State Commissioner for Special Duties Governor’s Office, Mrs. Theresa Sakpra, who was abducted in May, has regained freedom.

Sources told our correspondent that Mrs. Sakpra was released at about 9pm on Thursday along the ECN/Ekakpramre road in Ughelli South Council Area of the state.

She was abducted by the hoodlums on her way home from her shop at about 6.15pm last Thursday, after dropping one of her salesgirls along the expressway. She was said to have been taken to an unknown destination.

It was gathered that the hoodlums had called her commissioner husband on Wednesday demanding for N5m ransom. The amount was, however, reduced to N4m.

There are unconfirmed reports that the commissioner paid the N4m ransom to secure his wife’s release.

There was wild jubilation on Thursday night in Udu Council area of the state where her husband was a former council chairman following her release.

The commissioner, Chief Henry Sakpra, confirmed his wife’s release to our correspondent via the telephone on Friday.

“I’m grateful to God that my wife is back home”, Sakpra told newsmen.

The State Police Commissioner, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, also confirmed the release of the commissioner’s wife.

He said, “She was released yesterday evening (Thursday). I just spoke with her. No arrest has been made yet but we have a lead and we are working on our lead. I won’t say much because of ongoing investigations.”
